Ingrid Bergman (29 August 1915 – 29 August 1982) was a Swedish actress who starred in a variety of European and American films. She won three Academy Awards, two Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, a BAFTA Award, and the Tony Award for Best Actress. She is best remembered for her roles as Ilsa Lund in Casablanca (1942) and as Alicia Huberman in Notorious (1946), an Alfred Hitchcock thriller starring Cary Grant and Claude Rains.
Bergman debuted with ‘Munkbrogreven’ where her role was appreciated and was followed by various film roles including ‘Intermezzo’. She further worked in its English remake and went on to do act in some ‘Broadway’ plays. This helped her to further move to Hollywood where she debuted with ‘Liliom’ and worked for some other movies.
During this period, she came up with ‘Gaslight’ which turned out to be one of her most notable movies. Her character was critically appreciated and she was honored with the ‘Academy Award’. Another notable movie by her was ‘Anastasia’ which also got her several awards including the ‘Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama’.
