Frizzy hair is caused because of lack of moisture. The dryness causes hair to look fuller making it difficult to style. It happens with all kinds of hair but for curly-haired beauties, frizzy hair can be a daily battle. From using the wrong hair product to excessive use of hair tools, or extreme humid weather, anything can be a contributing factor in causing frizzy hair.

Here are some simple tips that can help tame frizzy hair and get shiny, smooth hair that you desire.

1. Stop over processing and over styling

Heat isn’t good for hair. Frequent use of blow dryers, hot iron, hot rollers, flat irons and other heating hair tools can cause dryness and brittle hair which may also end up looking dull and lifeless. The heat can strip the cuticle layers on hair strands of moisture causing frizziness.

2. Wash with carbonated water

Carbonated water commonly known as soda water or sparkling water is carbon dioxide which infuses the water.

It is made by dissolving carbon dioxide gas in water under pressure. This water has low pH level and can be good for fighting frizziness caused by humidity. Use carbonated water as a final rinse after regular shampooing.

3. Avoid hair products with alcohol

Alcohol can really dry out your hair, stripping it of all moisture and causing frizz. Ensure your hair styling products like gels, conditioners, shampoos, mousse etc. are alcohol-free.

4. Give TLC to your hair

Let the hair dry naturally rather than using a dryer. If at all you need to blow dry your, go for less or no heat setting. Also, use a wide-toothed comb instead of fine-toothed one to untangle your hair. This will cause less strain on your hair strands, cutting out the frizz.

Quit hard toweling wet hair. Hard rubbing causes friction and can break your hair shaft making it frizzier.

5. Protect your Frizzy hair from harsh weather

It’s not just our skin that bears the brunt of daily pollution and harsh climate. Our hair is easily getting damaged by extreme weather causing problems like dryness, dullness, and frizz.

To avoid frizz, guard your hair against harsh weather using umbrellas, scarves, and hats.
